When Jim Stewart and Estelle Axton transformed an old movie theater into a recording studio in a small residential neighborhood of downtown Memphis, little did they know a musical movement would emerge, changing not only a city, but also a nation.

Fifty years later the city of Memphis honors this musical movement, the neighborhood known as Soulsville, USA, and the musicians, singers, producers and visionaries that continue to create soul music with a yearlong celebration.
